Many children are typically toilet trained by or around age 3, and are expected to be dry by age 5 including night time. Here are a few signs that your child may be ready to toilet train:
Less wet diapers, with significant dry periods of time during the day
Independence with undressing and dressing *(or has a caregiver that assists)
Can follow simple directions
Good postural control and ability to sit still on a toilet *(or can use an adaptive toilet seat to provide more postural support)
May have bowel movements on a schedule, may hide when having a bowel movement
*If your child has special needs I have included some adaptations your child may use.
